Richard Carleton

Canadian Securities Exhange

 

Richard Carleton has been CEO of the Canadian Securities Exchange for seven years. Prior to this appointment, Richard served as Vice-President Corporate Development with responsibility for the CSE’s technology, operations, market data and trading sales teams. Before joining the exchange, Richard worked as a business development consultant in Toronto and New York in the risk management and index product fields after spending twelve years with the Toronto Stock Exchange, serving most recently as a member of the exchange’s senior management team. Active in industry affairs, Richard served two terms as chair of the market data industry’s global trade association in the late 1990's and is a frequent panelist at market structure and trading technology events across North America. Richard also serves as a member of the boards of the Private Capital Markets Association and the Empire Club of Canada.

A member of the Law Society of Upper Canada since 1987, Richard is a graduate of the University of Ottawa (B.A. ’81) and the University of Toronto (LL.B. ’85). He has also completed the executive development programme at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

He was also a member of the firm’s Tax and TMT Global Leadership teams and a member of Deloitte’s Board of Directors.

A chartered accountant, Mr. Ruffolo was formerly a partner with Arthur Andersen LLP and has also spent time as an instructor for both the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and York University’s Schulich School of Business, from which he holds a Bachelor of Business Administration

Brady Fletcher

A Computer Engineer by background, Brady spent almost a decade in investment banking, primarily focused on financing and advising technology and diversified issuers through strategic transactions, before leaving to found Coastr. 

With Coastr, Brady successfully took a concept through ideation, building a development team, and launching the platform. We successfully sold a network of almost 30 venues locally while using customer feedback to drive iterative revisions to the app and back-end platform. 

Throughout his investment banking career, Brady has advised hundreds of companies on business strategy, capital raising, public and private markets, and exit strategies – having successfully executed over $500million in growth equity financings, secondary transactions, and sell-side advisory mandates.

Brady joined TMX Group recently and is Managing Director of TSX Venture, the world’s leading public venture capital marketplace.

Nikki Acton is an Executive Director and Head of Global Liquidity Solutions at J.P. Morgan, based in New York.

In this role, Nikki is responsible for engaging global clients with J.P. Morgan’s various liquidity solutions including Central Risk Book access, Actionable Indication of Interest, Guaranteed Market on Close and Systematic Internalizer.

Prior to joining J.P. Morgan in 2017, Nikki worked at Bank of America Merrill Lynch as Head of International Electronic Sales and held similar roles at Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs.

Nikki holds a BSc Economics Degree from The London School of Economics and Political Science.

Ana Avramovic is a member of the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Instinct Knowledge team, focusing on market structure.

Prior to joining BofAML, she was the Director of Market Structure Trading Strategy at Credit Suisse, and before that worked in volatility arbitrage and credit derivatives structuring at a quantitative hedge fund. Her work has been frequently cited in the media, including in print publications such as the WSJ, the Financial Times, and popular books, as well as on CNBC and Bloomberg.

Ana holds an MS degree in Financial Mathematics and a BS degree in Electrical Engineering (Computer Science specialty), both from Stanford University. She is also a CFA charterholder.

Clément Gignac

Senior Vice-President, Investments and Chief Economist at iA Financial Group

 

With a master’s degree in economics from Laval University, Clément Gignac has a wealth of experience spanning 30 years in both the private and public sectors and was until very recently a minister in the Quebec government.

Since December 12, 2012, Clément has been Senior Vice-President, Investments and Chief Economist at iA Financial Group. In addition to being the Group’s spokesperson on economic matters, he is also the chair of the asset allocation committee and responsible for managing the company's diversified funds, with assets exceeding $5 billion. 

Before joining iA Financial Group, Clément Gignac was a well known economist and strategist for major financial institutions, including National Bank Financial, where he was vice-president and chief economist from 2000 to 2008. During this time, he was recognized as one of the best economic strategists in the country and was frequently contacted by the media, business leaders and governments for his expertise. Thereafter, he began his career in politics.

Clément Gignac is a well regarded speaker and is often sought after by the media. In 2012, he was asked to chair the prestigious World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Competitiveness and in 2016, was asked to become a standing member of the Washington, D.C.-based Conference of Business Economists, a global group of distinguished economists.
